The Name名字的由来

Albert Divo — the French racing driver who won the Targa Florio twice for Bugatti.

This car carries a driver's name. In 1928 and 1929, Albert Divo won the Targa Florio back-to-back in a Type 35 B — 148 km of unguarded mountain roads through Sicily, no guardrails, only stone walls and cliffs.

At The Quail, August 2018, Bugatti unveiled the Divo: 35 kg lighter and 90 kg more downforce than the Chiron, top speed voluntarily limited to 380 km/h — every kilogram of drag traded for cornering grip.

Design设计

Instantly recognizable as a Bugatti, impossible to confuse with a Chiron.

Design lead Jascha Straub gave his team a one-line brief: the Divo must be instantly recognizable as a Bugatti, yet impossible to confuse with a Chiron.

The roof is shaped as a NACA duct, channeling air along a central fin to the rear wing — a direct nod to the Type 57 Atlantic. The front end was completely remade; the 3D-printed rear light comes from a new manufacturing process.

Widened Grille

One of Bugatti's three key design elements, widened and repositioned for the Divo.

We had a host of liberties when we developed the Divo because we limited the top speed to 380 km/h. As a result, we were able to generate more downforce and turn the Divo into a visually and technically independent model.

Aerodynamics空气动力学

456 kg of total downforce — 90 kg more than the Chiron.

The Divo's aero package isn't a few carbon canards. Front cover, front spoiler, side skirts, rear wing, diffuser — everything redesigned with one goal: downforce.

Every kilogram saved by weight reduction went back into downforce, up to the limit of the tyres. The final number: 456 kg, 90 kg more than the Chiron.

As the car dives under heavy braking, the front splitter drops closer to the ground and downforce builds — engineers deliberately capped front-axle downforce to keep the aero balance stable under braking.

To date, a modern Bugatti has represented a perfect balance between high performance, straight-line dynamics and luxury. With the Divo, we are now shifting the focus to lateral dynamics.

The Interior座舱

Two colors, one cabin split in half.

The cabin carries the exterior's two-tone logic inside. The driver's side is almost entirely Divo Racing Blue — a bright turquoise developed exclusively for this car; the passenger side stays dark with selective accents.

The seats are a new design: stronger lateral support, thinner and lighter backs, no compromise on comfort. Every material mirrors the exterior spec — each car's colorway is signed off between customer and design team.

40 Divos. No two the same.

From paint color to stitch direction, every detail of the 40 Divos is co-developed one-to-one between customer and design team.

The "Lady Bug" is the most extreme of them all. The customer wanted a geometric-dynamic algorithmic fading pattern across the entire body — layered in the bespoke metallic tones of "Customer Special Red" and "Graphite". It took the team over a year and a half to make the CAD pattern fit the three-dimensional body without distortion.

We were close to giving up and saying: 'We cannot meet the customer's request.' However, it is our profound conviction that we should never give up and that our foremost motivation should always be to make the impossible possible for the customer.

Development of the geometric pattern
09 The development of the geometric-dynamic, algorithmic fading pattern on the bodywork.

Around 1,600 diamonds, each checked and realigned by hand; six-meter films pulled over deeply concave surfaces without a single fold. The multilayer paintwork finally sinks the ruby pattern into an anthracite gradient — months of hand craftsmanship for a depth and brilliance rarely seen in color.

Targa FlorioThe Return

Ninety years later, the Divo returns to Albert Divo's circuit.

In 2022, Bugatti drove the Divo back to the Targa Florio circuit in Sicily, joined by a Type 35 — two cars, 90 years apart, reunited where Albert Divo made his name.

The film "Following in Albert Divo's Footsteps" records the return: behind the blue Type 35, a modern Bugatti built for the same purpose — corners.

I am deeply impressed by how the Divo is able to get to grips with these roads, some of which are in very poor condition, and the very short distances between corners.
